Stephen and I go all the way back to middle school. I was the kid who volunteered to leave my class and show this new guy from Alabama around (of course I had ulterior motives!). We walked the halls that first day and decided to meet that weekend for a tour of the neighborhood on our bikes...the rest is history. Stephen and Sara Ellen were married this past summer and are now expecting there first little bambino! I had a great time with this session and really like the tree shots...something very surreal about them!

This family as a whole are some of the closest friends we have! Graciousness, patience, kindness, and love are a few of the qualities that Les and I constantly experience when we are with these guys. This year two of the oldest Kary girls will be leaving for Bible college, so it was time for a renewing of the family photos.

One of my big goals with this session was to introduce meaning. I really enjoy finding creative locations to do photo shoots, but even more meaninful is finding a location or environment that connects with the family and is interesting as well. I think I was able to capture this. Both the home and the truck play a significant role in the Kary's heritage. I was thrilled to bring this out for them.

Miles & Alyssa looked great celebrating their love with a classic Western Canadian wedding. I had such an amazing time with this beautiful couple. We set out to incorporate some of the meaningful elements of their country life, but with a slightly modern twist. It was so exciting to get to that place in photography where the couple finds their own world and you just get to be there to capture it...feels so effortless. I actually met the Bickersteths on a larger family shoot I was doing. This family lives in Michigan and doesn't have the opportunity to see their Canadian relatives very often, so they asked if I could spend some more time with these three and I am so glad I did.

I wasn't sure if I would actually be able to capture the real connection with these guys in the time I was given, but it was magic! Even within the first few minutes these guys were laughing and joking and I'm pretty sure they totally forgot I was there. As a photographer I couldn't hope for anything better....complete transparency!

I met Miles and Alyssa at a college and career Bible study I am leading on Tuesday nights. These two have "NICE" written all over! They never seem to be disinterested with any topic...a great thing for a rambler like me!

We had a blast on this shoot traipsing around the farm. Miles and Alyssa really wanted something that was on the more creative side as well as something that spoke to their life and work on the sheep farm. This brings up a really interesting story. Miles actually moved to Alberta so that he could work the farm and win the hand of Alyssa (impressive huh?!). Talk about making a BIG move! They actually raise sheep together and so I thought it would be fitting to capture them in their natural element.
